WHY IS RE-TRAINING YOUR STRESS RESPONSE SO NECESSARY FOR OPTIMAL FLOW AND FUNCTION?

From competitive athletes to the executive board room to the performing artist; students wanting to achieve their best, public speakers, or anyone who wants to function at their best.

Nearly everyone has experienced moments of optimal flow, a state characterized by one-pointed concentration that is both fully present and in the moment, and yet relaxed. But most often these are fleeting moments and not reproducible.

Achieve One Pointed Concentration…

Imagine learning how to achieve and maintain clarity of mind and an ability to focus and attend effortlessly to the task at hand, particularly when the pressure is on. And imagine discovering that you don’t get perturbed as much by things that would have once caused you to lose your composure, your focus, and in the present moment concentration.

Managing stressed environments…

In a stressed situation, where achieving your goal is important, you can easily lose focus and concentration. You freeze up and become blocked. Anyone who has been in competition or in highly stressed environments knows this experience. Long preparation, one moment of peak performance, only to ‘lose it’ when the pressure is on.

I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Why would working with you be different?

My clients report that they experience a letting go of stresses and attachments that they were not even aware they had. They notice their mind quieting and things that demanded energy from them drop away naturally. They thus report that their present moment focus improves naturally without their having to “do” anything about it and this has an impact on their ability to be in the “flow” of their life. This optimal flow experience is key to achieving their best in all our endeavors.

If I decided to work with you, how long would it take to notice positive benefits?

My clients fairly quickly see that they are noticing changes in their focus and concentration, and their ability to maintain a relaxed state in situations that would have previously made them tense and unable to transform the stress of the moment. It does not take long to begin to see benefits.

How can you help me change these long standing behaviors that I have always felt in stressed moments?

Neuroplasticity refers to the idea that our brain and central nervous system, which control all our behavior, can change in response to what we ask of it. If we continue to repeat negative states and behaviors, then it will be negatively impacted. But if we recognize that when we lose focus or become upset in stressed situations, it is actually the brain that it ‘producing’ it, in this moment, based on past habits. Then we have the chance of interrupting that stress event and remind our brain to come back to the present and just be in this moment where all is well.

I have never been good at exercises and homework?

You won’t be asked to do typical homework; most of what we do will be during your session. Depending on what your goal is, there might be occassional practices that you will be asked to do throughout the week that will support what we are focusing on in your training. But it will be refreshing and not a chore.

I am so overwhelmed, I can’t take on a other thing.

The benefit of what I do with you will begin to address the overload that is causing you to feel this way. When you are overloaded, you feel like we are at your bursting point and can’t take on another thing. This type of training helps you better cope with the pressures inside you and in your life without necessarily having to ‘do’ anything. It is really all about being present in this moment and we can train your brain to have that happen more regularly.

What clients soon experience…

Cients soon begin to have a capacity to deal with what is thrown at them without having to REACT automatically and mechanically as they might have in the past, thus negatively impacting performance. Research now shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that an ability to maintain a relaxed state of mind and body is key to all optimal performance. This is what the training accomplishes.

How have others actually benefited from this approach to training?

Read this Case Study.

I am working with a woman who has had a longstanding chronic fatigue issue. But the reality is that she has to continue to work for a living. She was recently hired to work as the director of public outreach for a very successful firm, a very demanding position. She couldn’t afford to say no to the contract but was having a very difficult time performing at her best as the position demanded. The first session we did allowed her to let go of stress in her body and mind that she didn’t even know that she had been carrying. It was a great relief to her she told me.

Subsequent bi-weekly sessions have trained her to be more in the present moment rather than be afraid of what ‘might’ happen, and which caused her to loose valuable energy and loss of present moment awareness.  It also helped her manage her anxiety to the point that she says she doesn’t have anxiety anymore!

Today, she is doing a marvelous job for the firm because she is learning not to waste her precious life energy by focusing on the past or the future… She is learning how to quickly recognize old conditioned responses that are self-defeating and to a let them go, and bring herself back to the present moment.
