•Cranio-Sacral Therapy:
Craniosacral therapy is an alternative therapy used by osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
From 1975 to 1983, osteopathic physician Dr. John E. Upledger and neurophysiologist and histologist Ernest W. Retzlaff worked at Michigan State University as clinical researchers and professors. They set up a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists, and bioengineers to investigate the pulse he had observed and study further the originator Dr. Sutherland’s theory of cranial bone movement. Upledger and Retzlaff went on to publish their results, which they interpreted as support for both the concept of cranial bone movement and the concept of a cranial rhythm.
Upledger developed his own treatment style, and when he started to teach his work to a group of students who were not osteopaths he generated the term ‘CranioSacral therapy’, based on the corresponding movement between cranium and sacrum. Craniosacral therapists often (although not exclusively) work more directly with the emotional and psychological aspects of the patient than osteopaths working in the cranial field.
Here is a Cranio-Sacral therapist speaking a bit about this approach to improving body and mind function, relaxation, and health.
•Trauma Resolution Psychotherapy:

•EMDR Institute link: EMDR
EMDR is a body centered psychotherapy for reducing the effect of trauma; it is also very effective in enhancing performance capabilities in your life. With the assistance of visualization, emotional recall, and goal oriented focusing, you learn to face challenges where previously you could not. This approach to changing how we respond to stressful situation is used by the Veterans Administration, has been used extensively at Oklahoma City and during 9/11 in New York City and has been well researched.
Here is a good video showing a client doing EMDR trauma psychotherapy and a therapist sharing some insights about what it is and how it helps resolve repetitive traumatic reactions that keep us from living our life in the present moment.
